Watch movies to improve your IELTS Listening skills

　　Do you want to improve your performance in IELTS Listening? One mistake many candidates make is to continually do practice tests and nothing else. This often results in no improvement in performance.

　　你想提升你的雅思聽力嗎? 很多考生都容易陷入一個誤區(qū)：只做聽力訓(xùn)練而不顧其它。這樣經(jīng)常會導(dǎo)致聽力技能沒有任何提升。

　　The key to improving your listening skills is to maximize your exposure to English language. This means listening to as many different sources as possible. In particular focus on sources that provide a range of different accents. You can do this in many different ways –

　　提升聽力技巧的關(guān)鍵就是盡其所能的去多接觸英語，也就是在閑暇時間盡可能多多聽聽不同的英語學(xué)習(xí)資源。不僅如此，還需要多多注意不同的口音，在這里，我向大家推薦下幾種方式：

　　? listen to the radio, try things like BBC World Service, or Voice of America

　　多聽聽英國廣播公司國際頻道以及美國之聲。

　　? watch videos online – sites like TED are excellent places to learn from, the content is on all types of subjects, just choose whatever subject you are interested in

　　多看網(wǎng)上的視頻，TED網(wǎng)站是以個很好的學(xué)習(xí)資源，其視頻包含了各個主題，你可以選擇你有興趣的視頻觀看。

　　? listen to music – again choose songs you like the sound of, get the lyrics from the internet and then listen along reading the words

　　聽音樂，同樣的選擇你喜歡的音樂，從網(wǎng)上下載歌詞并跟讀歌詞。

　　Another method is watching English language movies. You can turn on subtitles in movies if you lack confidence but, whenever possible, try not to rely on this. Just focus on watching, listening, and enjoying the story!

　　看英文電影也是一種不錯的選擇。如果你不自信，你可以參考字幕。但切記不要過分依賴字幕，集中注意力看，聽，享受電影故事給你帶來的樂趣。

　　I once met some students in a small town in China. They communicated with me quite confidently, listening to what I said very effectively and, I was amazed, they had fantastic American accents. I asked them where they had gone to learn English. They said they had never done classes – they simply watched lots of American movies and copied what they heard!

　　我曾經(jīng)在中國的小鎮(zhèn)遇到這么一群孩子，他們能很自信的與我交流，并且十分認真的聽我的表述。我很驚訝地發(fā)現(xiàn)這群孩子居然都有美國口音，于是我好奇地問他們是在哪里學(xué)的英文，他們的回答讓我大吃一驚。他們從未參加過任何的英語培訓(xùn)，學(xué)習(xí)英語的方式僅僅是通過看美國電影并模范其口音。

　　If they can do this, improving their listening and speaking by themselves, anyone can do this. It can work!

　　如果他們可以用同樣的方法提升他們聽說能力的話，那所有的人都可以。這種方法是可行的!

　　This is not a magic solution. No matter what you hear from others, there are no magic solutions when it comes to IELTS preparation. You will not change your performance overnight.

　　但這不是一個短期就能見到顯著成效的方法，雅思備考從來就沒有能短期有成效的方法。你不可能晚上就顯著提升你的英文。

　　But with time, patience and persistence, you will see improvement in your ability.

　　但只要你長時間的堅持訓(xùn)練，效果顯而易見。
