美國Department of State Consular Affairs希望所有的邀請函都要來自于正在美國生活的個人，如果是公司發(fā)出的邀請函可能在內(nèi)容上與個人發(fā)出的邀請函有所區(qū)別。邀請函適用于那些需要在美國停留時間長達6個月的家人或朋友，如果只來美國待一個星期，則不需要準備邀請函。邀請函最好準備兩版，一版英文，一版中文，即使同時來美的家人或同學超過1個人，也不用寫n版邀請函，一封就適用于所有人了。

邀請函一般包含以下內(nèi)容，但是也不局限于以下內(nèi)容：

1.邀請人的名字，在美居住類型；

2.如果邀請人是F-1或J-1簽證的學生，需要邀請人表明自己在某學校的全日制學生身份，學位類型和所學專業(yè)；

3.如果邀請人是J-1訪問學者或H-1B工作簽證身份，邀請信中寫清楚自己的工作職位，所在部門等；

4.被邀請人的姓名和生日；

5.邀請人與被邀請人的關系(父母，家人，朋友等)；

6.受邀原因(參加畢業(yè)典禮，小孩兒出生，旅游等)；

7.邀請信中寫出被邀請人入境日期和離境日期；

8.邀請信中寫出被邀請人來美時的資金支持情況。如果邀請人將支付被邀請人在美期間所有的消費，邀請人盡量提供一份銀行開具的存款證明，表明自己有足夠的資金支付被邀人所有的花費和開銷。

9.邀請信中還要明確表達出被邀請人在美只是短暫停留，一旦停留日期到期，被邀請人會按時回國，同時也可以陳述被邀請人回國的原因以保證信息的真實性，比如回國工作，財產(chǎn)的約束情況或者其他具有很強約束力的原因。

邀請人需提供給被邀請人：

1.I-94卡；

2.移居類型，比如F-1簽證的I-20表格，J-1簽證的DS-2019表格或者H-1B簽證用到的I-797同意聲明；

3.如果是在美留學生，可以提供學校開出的Advising report.
